Laser Assisted Cataract

For more than 30 years, Dr. Mark Suggs and Suggs Eye Center in Wichita Falls have helped set the standard in cataract care. Today the tradition of eye care excellence continues with the introduction of a breakthrough cataract procedure as unique as the eye itself.

Suggs Eye Center is proud to be the first practice in Wichita Falls to offer bladeless laser cataract surgery with the LenSx Laser.

Laser technology improves the precision and accuracy of several of the most critical steps in cataract surgery. It is designed to make cataract removal more gentle than manual surgery. It can even correct astigmatism.

The LenSx® is a femtosecond laser, which emits cool pulses with durations between a few femtoseconds and hundreds of femtoseconds. LenSx® automates the most challenging steps of traditional cataract surgery, such as performing corneal incisions, opening the capsule and softening and breaking up the cataract. Prior to the introduction of this laser, traditional cataract surgery involved the creation of several small incisions made manually with a blade. With LenSx®, Dr. Suggs can create those incisions with the laser, resulting in a significantly higher degree of precision. Also the advanced imaging systems provides both real-time video as well as three-dimensional visualization, enabling Dr. Suggs to custom design a treatment plan that is individually tailored for your eyes.

“It is unquestionably the most technologically advanced option available,” Dr. Suggs said. “The LenSx laser makes an already safe procedure even better by increasing precision and predictability during surgery while lessoning recovery time.”
